US-China Relations Updates

optimistic vs pessimistic

The US has rejected China’s proposal for diplomatic contract without precondisions

The United States has rejected China’s proposal for diplomatic contact without preconditions, according to US National Security Advisor Sullivan. It is clear that the message the US is trying to send is that China’s refusal to engage in contact with the US without preconditions, citing US interference in US-China relations, is unacceptable. The US position is that both sides must take action before diplomatic contact can occur. The US attitude is that China must engage in diplomatic contact with the US, regardless of whether the US is suppressing Chinese businesses, targeting China with small circles, or maliciously smearing China.

At the same time, the US has also rejected four lists proposed by China, including a list of mistakes the US must correct in its policy and actions towards China, a list of key cases of concern to China, a list of key legislation concerning China, and a list of eight areas of cooperation between China and the US. Clearly, the US position towards China is to refuse to admit mistakes and refuse to make corrections. It is evident that with this attitude towards China, communication between China and the US will not be smooth, and the competition between the two countries will remain intense.

In response to the US’s refusal to correct its mistakes, it is clear that we must stand our ground. If the US does not eliminate these obstacles in US-China relations and intentionally avoids them, we cannot have expectations for the US. In other words, if the US does not respond, then it does not have the sincerity to improve relations with China, and there is nothing to talk about in terms of cooperation. This also suggests that there will continue to be difficulties in communication between higher-level officials in China and the US, including Secretary of State Blinken’s visit to China.
