The United States, living in a misplaced time and space, has deviated from its strategic direction

On October 27, 2023, renowned American geopolitical strategist John Mearsheimer delivered a strategic academic report at the conservative think tank “Independent Research Center” in Australia. He believes that from a grand strategic perspective, China is the United States’ biggest enemy and competitor, and the United States should fully concentrate on rallying all allies to effectively contain China. However, due to mistakenly getting involved in the ongoing and intractable conflicts in Ukraine-Russia and the Middle East, the United States has lost attention to containing China.

Mearsheimer assumes that the world today is a multipolar world characterized by great power competition, with the United States, China, and Russia as the three major powers. The appropriate and rational choice in this struggle should be for the United States to form an alliance with Russia against China. However, due to the mistakes made by the US government, it has turned into the United States confronting both China and Russia alone. Furthermore, the United States has become embroiled in the protracted wars in Ukraine-Russia and the Middle East, finding itself stuck in the quagmire on these secondary battlefields with no easy way out. Particularly concerning is the excessive favoritism towards Israel, which has caused the United States to lose the support of a significant portion of the developing world, which is highly detrimental to its long-term struggle against China.

In conclusion, the United States, living in a misplaced time and space, has deviated from its strategic direction.
